Rohit Sachdev is a Partner in Orrick’s Energy and Infrastructure Group, based in San Francisco.

Rohit represents several of the world’s leading developers of renewable and conventional energy generation projects on project development, financing and purchase/sale arrangements. He has extensive experience in the solar, wind, gas and energy storage sectors, with a particular focus on California and other U.S. jurisdictions. Rohit's past deal experience spans energy and infrastructure projects in the Americas, Asia, India, Europe and the Middle East, and includes award-winning transactions.

In recent years, Rohit has represented numerous winning bidders on thousands of MWs of PPAs and tolling agreements awarded by California’s investor owned utilities. Rohit has also represented several developers and sponsors on both "physical" PPAs and "virtual" PPAs across from large non-utility corporate and other buyers across the U.S. He has also represented several clients on a variety of energy storage projects, including stand-alone and hybrid projects in both California and other U.S. jurisdictions. Finally, Rohit has recently represented multiple clients on the purchase and sale of renewables projects in various U.S. jurisdictions.

Rohit has substantial experience in project development and construction arrangements, including power purchase and other offtake agreements, EPC/construction contracts and supply arrangements, as well as project company M&A, sales and purchase arrangements.

Rohit started his legal career at White & Case LLP in New York, where he focused on project development and project finance transactions across the globe. Prior to law and business schools, Rohit was an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse in San Francisco, where he provided M&A and financial advisory services to technology companies in Silicon Valley.

    • Representation of several of the world’s leading solar project developers on thousands of MWs of power purchase agreements and related development arrangements with PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, SCPPA, Marin Energy Authority, City of Palo Alto, Imperial Irrigation District, and others.
    • Representation of one of the world’s largest renewables sponsors in connection with multiple wind PPAs in various domestic markets, including a 200 MW physical wind PPA in the MISO market with a premier technology/internet company.
    • Representation of multiple clients on the development and construction of utility-scale energy storage projects, including stand-alone facilities and hybrid facilities combined with renewables or conventional power generation.
    • Representation of a large conventional and renewables sponsor on the sale of two development stage solar projects in Tulare County, California with an aggregate capacity of 34MW.
    • Representation of a renewables developer on the sale of a development stage solar project in Stanislaus County, California with a capacity of 20MW.
    • Representation of a renewables developer on the sale of development stage solar projects in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
    • Representation of a sponsor in connection with project development, construction and financing arrangements for several gas-fired power projects worldwide, including a 600 MW power plant in the San Francisco Bay Area and peaker plants in other parts of the United States and Africa.
    • Representation of a European sponsor on the project development, construction, debt financing, and tax equity financing of a 25 MW solar project in the Imperial Valley of California.
    • Representation of a leading California developer on a bridge financing for a portfolio of solar power projects in Canada.
    • Representation of California developers with joint venture, offtake and bidding arrangements for development of solar power projects in various parts of India.
    • Representation of a biofuels developer in connection with the development, construction, and project financing of a MSW biofuels plant in Nevada.
    • Representation of a joint venture of a global oil company and a leading energy-focused private equity firm in connection with the development, construction and project financing of a 512 MW natural gas-fired, simple-cycle power generation facility located in New Jersey and interconnected to a substation via subaquatic transmission lines. This project was the recipient of “Deal of the Year” awards issued by Project Finance magazine and Project Finance International magazine.
    • Representation of a power generation and transmission developer in the development and project financing of a 235-mile, 500-kilovolt transmission line across Nevada to deliver up to 600 MW of electricity, including from wind, geothermal and solar sources, The project is being conditionally guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Guarantee Program.
    • Representation of a national oil company in the operation, financing and expansion of a $9.9 billion refinery, ethane cracker and petrochemical complex and associated conversion industrial park in the Middle East.
    • Representation of a global oil company in connection with the project development, equipment supply, and EPC arrangements for a 650 MW natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power generation facility located in New Jersey.  
    • Representation of a foreign development bank in connection with the potential project financing of a nuclear power plant supported by the U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Guarantee Program.
    • Representation of an international multilateral financial institution in connection with the financial restructuring of a 165 MW coal-fired power project in Chile.
    • Representation of a global oil and gas company in connection with the $2.6 billion financing of an LNG project in Indonesia. This project was the recipient of “Deal of the Year” awards issued by Project Finance magazine and Asian Counsel magazine.
