Orrick Advises Germany's Algebra Investments in Acquisition of Austria's Weidinger Group

May.06.2015

Orrick's German Corporate team advised Algebra Investments, a private equity fund that specializes in mid-sized enterprise investments, in acquiring a majority stake in Austria’s Weidinger & Partner GmbH. Algebra is controlled by the listed Luxempart S.A. investment company. This is the company’s first investment in Austria.

Based in Vienna, Weidinger & Partner GmbH is the holding company of the Weidinger Group, which is the leading private education company for adolescent and adult training in Austria, with a particular focus on labor market projects such as vocational education and career guidance for apprentices and other skilled workers.

Algebra acquired Weidinger & Partner from private equity investor Lead Equities and the Child in Time Foundation, although the latter will continue to hold a stake in the Weidinger Group. Through the transaction, the current management of the Weidinger Group also increased its participation in Weidinger & Partner.

Orrick regularly advises Algebra on transactional matters and questions regarding funds structuring. Our team on this deal was led by Dr. Wilhelm Nolting-Hauff and Dr. Sven Greulich with Dr. Stefan Schultes-Schnitzlein.
