Lorraine McGowen Named to Savoy Magazine's 2015 Most Influential Black Lawyers List

Orrick partner Lorraine McGowen has been named one of the Most Influential Black Lawyers of 2015 by Savoy Magazine. The list honors visionaries, leaders and advocates within the legal profession who are widely recognized for their professionalism, protection of rights and community service.

Ms. McGowen, a member of Orrick’s Restructuring practice, focuses her practice on complex bankruptcies, out-of-court restructurings and creditors’ rights controversies for clients that include leading financial institutions, syndicated lender groups, creditor committees and other parties in the U.S. and internationally. A strong advocate for diversity in the legal profession, she serves as Chair of Orrick’s Diversity & Inclusion Program and was honored by the NYC Bar Association with its Diversity Champion Award in 2012. According to Savoy, clients and colleagues have described Ms. McGowen as “tireless,” ubiquitous in the diversity and inclusion space,” “driven, determined, dedicated and devoted,” and “a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, multi-successful person on so many levels.” 

Other lawyers on Savoy’s 2015 list include Dennis Archer, first African American President of the American Bar Association and former Mayor of Detroit; The Honorable Damon J. Keith, Circuit Court Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Kamala D. Harris, 32nd Attorney General of the State of California; and Eric Holder, US Attorney General.
