Lorraine McGowen Named a 2019 Rainmaker by MCCA

Congratulations to Orrick partner Lorraine McGowen, who has been chosen as a 2019 Rainmaker by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA). MCCA’s Annual List of Rainmakers honors exceptional diverse lawyers whose business acumen, passion and dedication to proactive client development has set them apart as leaders in the legal profession, and who have contributed significantly to their communities.

Lorraine is a partner in our Restructuring group, and co-chair of our firm-wide Diversity & Inclusion Committee and our Automotive Technology & Mobility group. With over 30 years of experience, she advises global financial institutions, syndicated lender groups, creditor committees and other parties on the front lines of their recovery crisis and investment strategies with entrepreneurial enthusiasm and a true passion for innovation. Lorraine recently was the lead bankruptcy attorney representing Toyota in the highly complex global restructuring of Takata Corporation, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of automotive safety systems, including airbags.

She serves on the firm’s Management Committee and recently completed two terms on the Board. Lorraine is also a leading advocate for diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and creates programs for women, people of color and LGBTQ attorneys.

In addition to her recognition by MCCA, Lorraine was recently selected as one of Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Black Lawyers for a second time, and she received Legal Outreach’s Pipeline to Diversity Champion Award in 2017. Lorraine is our second MCCA Rainmaker award winner, joining Cybersecurity practitioner Aravind Swaminathan.
