Orrick Advises Westbrook on a Ground Lease with GWU to Renovate Mixed-Use Property in D.C.

Orrick’s West Coast real estate team advised Westbrook Partners on the long-term ground lease with George Washington University and related mortgage and mezzanine financing from Brookfield, to revamp 2000 Penn, a 404,000 square-foot mixed-use complex that includes office-and-retail space on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. Westbrook, along with its joint venture partner D.C.-based MRP Realty, plan to reposition the 10-story building by bringing in new several new retail tenants as well as a coworking provider that will have event space and add new amenities other tenants can also access. The team was led by partner Randy Perry and included Brandon Soleimani and Daniel Rothberg.
