A cross-border Orrick team has advised Vostok Emerging Finance (“VEF”) as lead investor in Konfio’s $25 million Series C financing round. Other investors in the round included Quona Capital, QED, Kaszek Ventures and International Finance Corporation, amongst others. Following the investment, VEF holds a minority position and board representation in the company.
Founded in 2014 by David Arana, Mexico City-based Konfio is a digital-first unsecured lending platform, with a mission to support the growth of Mexico’s vast underserved small business community.
Orrick has been advising VEF on its various investments since 2015, including several investments in Brazil (including Creditas and GuiaBolso), as well as its investment in African mobile money marketplace JUMO and Turkish payments leader Izyico. The Orrick team was led by Shawn Atkinson and included Jordan Murray, Jonathan Chou, Eduardo Aiza and Rodrigo Dominguez.
