April.03.2017

Orrick Rambaud Martel’s Laurie Craig was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Global Arbitration Review (GAR) Awards in Milan on March 29.

GAR Awards 2017: Laurie Craig, Vanessa Liborio & Charles KaplanLaurie, who has more than 40 years of international arbitration experience, was lauded by the publication as “a fixture of the Paris arbitration community since 1964 and one of the ‘founding fathers’ in the field”. He was introduced by fellow Orrick Rambaud Martel colleague Charles Kaplan, who spoke of “Laurie’s laboratory” in Paris, which produced several of today’s leading professionals, and of his many contributions to the international arbitration community.

Orrick was also named to GAR’s list of the world’s top 30 international arbitration practices for the second year in a row. To select their annual 100 list, GAR analyzes a variety of factors, including the number of arbitral hearings conducted over a two-year period, the amount in dispute in those cases, and the number of arbitral appointments handled by individuals appearing in Who’s Who Legal – a guide to leading practitioners in the field as selected by their peers.

The news coincides with Orrick’s expansion of our international arbitration team with the addition of Charles Adams, former U.S. Ambassador to Finland under President Obama and a leading expert on international arbitration. Charles joins the firm’s Geneva office today as head of the International Arbitration practice worldwide.
