Orrick partners Alessandro De Nicola, Marco Dell’Antonia, Cristina Martorana and Christian Schröder, together with Francesco Pizzetti (Full Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Turin, Professor of Constitutional Law and Data Privacy Protection at LUISS University in Rome and former President of the Italian Data Protection Authority) will provide a comprehensive picture of the new European Regulation on Privacy, entered into force on 24 May 2016.
Conference topics will include: the Data Privacy Officer, the privacy impact assessment, data protection by design and by default, data portability, the right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”), the Supervisory Authorities, an insight into the regulation of data circulation in Europe, business cases about the implementation of Data Privacy and Cybersecurity compliance programs, risks for companies.

Dr. Christian Schröder heads Orrick's IP/IT & Data Privacy Practice Group in Germany in Orrick’s Düsseldorf Office. Christian advises medium sized (Mittelstand) companies to large multinationals on IP, Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, E-Commerce, IT and Data Privacy/Data Protection.
He is listed in Germany's leading lawyer ranking magazine JUVE as frequently recommended data privacy expert and clients recommend him to JUVE for his "reliable and actionable advice". Christian and his practice are also ranked by Legal 500 Germany for being among the leading German data privacy practices (2018), clients referred to him as "Top data privacy expert".
Christian provides IP/IT advice in M&A transactions and advises on IP focused joint ventures. He supports companies on the set-up of webshops, outsourcings, license agreements, in cases of trademark or unfair and deceptive trade practice issues as well as on hard and software license and IT project agreements.
As a core member of Orrick's global Cybersecurity and Data Privacy team, Christian has a special focus on data privacy/data protection matters. In particular, Christian advises on a risk-based approach to privacy, on implementing databases and new software applications, in particular, cloud based solutions. He advises on data privacy contracts, internal data privacy policies, binding corporate rules, user agreements on BYOD, whistleblowing schemes, e-discovery, security breaches, and intra-group data sharing on a national and international basis. He also regularly defends companies against unfair access to their know-how by competitors and against unfair poaching of customers and employees.
Cristina Martorana is a partner at Orrick based in Milan and is member of the Energy & Infrastructure group. She has significant experience related to environmental, administrative and regulatory issues in the energy and infrastructure fields.
She has deep experience in Italian and European administrative law (judicial and out-of-court), particularly in the regulated fields of energy and infrastructure with reference to issues related to the construction, acquisition or financing of plants that produce energy from renewable and conventional sources, network infrastructures, gas, district heating, waste to energy, trading as well as in environmental law, healthcare, PPP and public procurement.
Cristina is lecturer at conferences and seminars on public / environmental law and project finance as well as author of articles in both national and international specialized magazines.
Before joining Orrick, Cristina was a partner at Watson Farley & Williams, and before that, at Clifford Chance, where she was partner-in-charge for the Regulatory Department, based in Milan.
Alessandro De Nicola is member of Orrick's Global Board of Directors and European Management Board. He is Senior Partner of the Italian offices in Milan and Rome, and has acted as European Corporate Group Leader.
Alessandro has extensive experience in commercial and corporate law, M&A, competition law and corporate governance. He has worked on complex domestic and cross-border corporate transactions including acquisitions and corporate restructurings for some of the most important players in the market. He leads extensive corporate governance projects with a particular focus on Legislative Decree 231.
Alessandro has pleaded in front of the Italian Antitrust Authority (AGCOM), Consob (the public authority responsible for regulating the Italian securities market), ECB (European Central Bank), Bank of Italy and civil and administrative courts.
Marco Dell'Antonia, a partner in the Milan office, is a member of the European Corporate Group. Marco has a specific experience in local and cross-border M&A transactions, commercial contracts, general corporate and corporate governance.
He advises primary Italian and international banks, financial institutions and major Italian and multinational corporations, working on complex corporate transactions including banking, industrial and manufacturing clients.
Marco's expertise is recognized by Italian and international clients in the field of corporate governance in general and in particular in the application of the Italian Legislative Decree 231/01 relating to the criminal liability of legal entities deriving from specific crimes identified by the decree.
Marco assists or is member of a substantial number of Vigilance Bodies of companies (also listed and regulated).
Marco is scientific coordinator of the legal area of NIBI - Master in Business Internationalization promoted by Camera di Commercio di Milano (Chamber of Commerce of Milan); he is a regular lecturer of the Master in Law organized by Il Sole 24 Ore Business School and of the Master "Corporate Counsel" organized by LUISS Business School; he has been adjunct professor at the IULM University in intellectual property law until 2009 and competition law until 2012.
He is member of the Board of the Association of the Members of the Vigilance Bodies pursuant to Italian Legislative Decree 231/2001.
Prior to joining Orrick, Marco developed his experience in international M&A transactions at Studio Legale Associato Laghi & Tabacchi in Treviso.
