Albert Simons III, a partner in the New York office, is a member of the Public Finance Department. He has practiced in the area of public finance for more than 40 years, serving as bond counsel, underwriters' counsel, disclosure counsel and company counsel for virtually every type of financing.

He has extensive experience in leading multi-disciplined teams in large, unique financings. He also has broad experience in the areas of municipal derivative products and refundings, with experience in synthetic refundings through the use of warrants, options and swaps.

    • Orange County Bankruptcy. He served as underwriters’ counsel on the Orange County recovery financings. The Bond Buyer, Deal of the Year.
    • LIPA/LILCO. He served as disclosure counsel to the Long Island Power Authority on the then largest issue of tax-exempt bonds in U.S. history for the takeover of LILCO. The Bond Buyer, Deal of the Year.
    • Tobacco Settlement Revenue Securitization. He was the lead attorney representing the underwriters in the securitization by the City of New York of its tobacco settlement revenues, the first tobacco securitization in the country. The Bond Buyer, Deal of the Year.
    • Iowa Fertilizer. Company counsel for the financing of a $1.8 billion fertilizer plant, the first new one in the United States in 20 years and the largest direct investment ever made in Iowa. Project Finance, North American Petrochemical Deal of the Year.
    • The City of New York. He serves as disclosure counsel for the City of New York.
    • New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority. He serves as designated underwriters' counsel to the underwriters of the Authority's bonds.
    • Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He serves as co-bond counsel to the MTA.
