Litigation Daily Recognizes Orrick Team for Major Appellate Win for Johnson & Johnson

April.30.2021

Congratulations to an Orrick team for being recognized by Litigation Daily's Litigator of the Week feature for winning reversal of a $117 million judgment against Johnson & Johnson in talc litigation.

The recognition stems from a New Jersey appellate court's decision overturning a jury verdict against J&J in a trial involving claims of cancer-causing asbestos in baby powder products. The appeals court sided with our team's arguments that the judgment should be reversed because the judge improperly allowed the testimony of two plaintiff's experts, tainting the scientific evidence presented to the jury.

Partner Josh Rosenkranz, who argued the case for J&J, led our team, which also included partners Bob Loeb and Naomi Scotten, associates Paul Meyer and Alyssa Barnard-Yanni, and former associate Evan Rose. The publication also recognized Latham for its representation of Imerys in the appeal.
