Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Names 2021 Fellows and Pathfinders

April.15.2021

Congratulations to Orrick partner Caroline Simons on being selected to participate in the 2021 LCLD Fellows program. This program is a landmark initiative to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

The leader of our Boston office, Caroline’s practice focuses on white collar and investigations and intellectual property litigation, with a particular emphasis on disputes involving trade secret misappropriation and trademark and trade dress infringement claims. She has handled trials in state and federal courts as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC). Caroline currently serves as an ambassador in the Move the Needle initiative, a collaboration between Orrick, Diversity Lab, leading GCs, and four other law firms to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession.

In addition, senior associate Joseph Santiesteban and managing associate Tierra Piens have been selected to participate in the 2021 LCLD Pathfinders program, which trains high-performing, rising stars in critical career development strategies, including leadership skills and the building of professional networks.

A member of our Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation team in Seattle, Joseph regularly advises clients regarding incident response, as well as litigation and government enforcement that commonly arises from privacy and cybersecurity incidents. He also uses this experience to provide clients practical advice regarding their data innovation and incident preparedness strategies.

A member of our Employment Law & Litigation team in San Francisco, Tierra litigates class action and single-plaintiff employment law disputes, including cases alleging violations of wage-and-hours laws, discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination. She also serves in several leadership roles at Orrick, including as a leader of the Black Lawyers of Orrick affinity group and on Orrick's Associates' Committee for the San Francisco office.

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. Orrick Chairman Mitch Zuklie currently serves on the Board of LCLD.
