Orrick advised Contentful GmbH, a global leader in headless content management systems, on its $80 million Series E funding led by Sapphire Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst, Salesforce Ventures and five other new and existing backers.

Contentful has office hubs in Berlin and San Francisco and distributed teams worldwide. Contentful is helping businesses compete in the massive market shift to a digital-first economy. With Contentful, brands can adapt to a changing landscape by quickly scaling up digital offerings across the entire customer journey. 28% of the Fortune 500 and 2,200 paying customers worldwide use Contentful to manage and deliver content across websites, mobile apps, wearables and digital displays.

The financing was lead-managed by Contentful's Chief Legal Officer Margo Smith and Corporate Counsel Alli Henry from the company's legal department.

Contentful was advised by an Orrick team led by partner John Bautista and senior associate Christina Catzoela (both Silicon Valley) on the U.S. side and partner Sven Greulich (Düsseldorf) on the German side. John Bautista and Sven Greulich previously advised Contentful on its $28 million Series C (2017) and $33,5 million Series D (2018) financing rounds.
