20+ Years of Innovation in West Virginia

Over the past two decades, Orrick’s Global Operations & Innovation Center in the City of Wheeling is at the heart of our work to harness technology and people to deliver the highest quality, most efficient services. At the same time, it has enabled us to bring hundreds of transformative jobs to this American community.

“Our Wheeling team has been at the center of our focus on transforming the legal services delivery model. The new roles, sophisticated analytics tools and innovative processes we are developing and delivering here enable the firm to offer a whole new suite of solutions to our clients.”
– Mitch Zuklie, Orrick Chair

Bringing Global Innovation to the Ohio Valley

  • Our Wheeling center opened in 2002 as the hub of the firm’s business operations, with 80 employees. It was the first domestic insourcing center in a U.S.-based law firm, with a focus on providing team-based efficient support to Orrick offices worldwide.
  • Today, the center is the firm’s global innovation hub – home to 400+ team members, including dozens of career associates, technologists, legal project managers and others who are an integral part of delivering sophisticated, data-driven solutions to our clients globally.
“The GOIC is an incredible story about innovating in West Virginia, drawing on local talent and equipping them with transformational technologies.”
– Kelly Cullen, leader of our U.S. career associate program

Services and solutions delivered from the GOIC have contributed to Orrick being named among the Financial Times’ top 10 most innovative law firms globally of the past 20 years

“It’s been really exciting to see the evolution of the Wheeling operation from back-office center to an engine of the firm’s innovation effort – with technology and task-based experts integrated into everything we do.”
– Daryl Shetterly, Orrick Analytics Managing Director

Connected to Our Community

From our annual cleanup of the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater to our founding roles in Pride in Wheeling and Show of Hands, our GOIC team is active in the local community.

  • We also partner with the Seeing Hand Association, NAMI, CASA for Children and Harmony House.

"The GOIC gives me the best of both worlds: I can stay close to my family and friends in the Ohio Valley (where I grew up) while building a rewarding career in a cutting-edge field. I work on high-impact cyber incident response matters for some of the world’s largest companies – opportunities I never imagined would be available here. Orrick in Wheeling has not only opened doors to exciting work, but also helped me discover and develop talents I might never have realized elsewhere."
– Rich Coup, Cyber & Privacy Career Associate
