日本語: Orrick Library Seminar : 米国プライバシー法の最新動向:カリフォルニア州消費者プライバシー法(CCPA)

Orrick’s Global Japan Practice is hosting a series of “Orrick Library” seminars to explore legal issues in various fields in Japan as well as the United States, Asia and Europe. The next seminar will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

The new dreaded acronym – the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) – featuring GDPR-style rules will take effect on January 1, 2020. With more and more states contemplating similar rules, Heather Egan Sussman, Global Co-chair of Orrick’s Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice, and the leader of the newly launched Orrick Boston Office, will address the following questions during this session:

  • What does it mean for global companies conducting business in California and the US more broadly?
  • How do companies offering services to California residents or having California operations prepare to mitigate risks caused by CCPA?
  • How will these changes impact competitiveness and achieving cost efficiencies in the California market?
  • How to respond to global privacy issues as a Japanese company?

Tokyo Litigation partner and Head of Global Japan Practice, Yoshihiro Takatori (Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association), and partner Shinsuke Yakura (Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association), along with managing associate Kei Kato (Dai-Ni Tokyo Bar Association), will offer additional perspective and comments for Japanese companies doing business in the US.

There will be time set asides for questions and answers.
