Orrick is proud to once again sponsor Infocast’s 2019 Storage Week and will participate in two panel discussions.

Les Sherman will be moderating a summit panel on Tuesday, February 26, titled, “Solar + Storage Goes Mainstream.” Les will host a panel on, among other topics, key market opportunities and challenges, performance metrics and other critical PPA provisions for solar + storage projects. Panelists will include Dan Cary, Vice President of Macquarie Capital; Kathy Lin, Vice President for Solar and Storage Technology of EDF Renewables; and Matt Stedl, Development Director of Energy Storage for Tradewind Energy.

Additionally, partners Rohit Sachdev and David Spielberg will be moderating a summit panel the same day, titled, Storage Week Shark Tank.” This panel features active and savvy investors in energy and will respond to storage projects featuring a variety of technologies and business models, picking out which they consider winners and exploring how changing some parameters affect financing decisions. Panelists will include Ali Amirali, Senior Vice President of Starwood Energy Group Global; Ty Bowman, Vice President of Prudential Capital Group; Dan Cary, Vice President of Macquarie Capital; Matan Friedman, Co-Founder of Generate Capital; and Fred Zelaya, Director of Structured Finance for Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.

Infocast’s 2019 Storage Week will take a deep dive into structuring both standalone and co-located storage projects, and assess the opportunities emerging via state targets, new rules in organized markets and the needs of new customer classes.

Rohit Sachdev Partner

Rohit represents several of the world’s leading developers of renewable and conventional energy generation projects on project development, M&A and financing arrangements.

He has extensive experience in the solar, wind, energy storage, gas and biofuel sectors, with a particular focus on California and other U.S. jurisdictions. Rohit's past deal experience spans energy and infrastructure projects in the Americas, Asia, India, Europe and the Middle East, and includes award-winning transactions.

In recent years, Rohit's practice has focused particularly on project development and project M&A transactions. He has successfully negotiated thousands of MWs of "physical" and "virtual" PPAs and tolling agreements, as well as a variety of construction, supply and other development arrangements. Rohit has also represented clients on the purchase and sale of renewables projects in various U.S. jurisdictions, as well as joint venture and other project asset arrangements. He has particularly focused on the development, financing and sale of domestic and international energy storage projects, including stand-alone, hybrid, front-of-meter and behind-the-meter projects.

Rohit started his legal career at an international law firm in New York where he focused on project development and project finance transactions across the globe. Prior to law and business schools, Rohit was an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse in San Francisco where he provided M&A and financial advisory services to technology companies in Silicon Valley.
