Shana is a seasoned commercial transactions and intellectual property licensing attorney with more than 20 years of experience advising life science and biotechnology companies around the globe.
Shana advises a wide range of life science, biotechnology, biopharma and research tools companies -- from small pioneering start-ups to established multinational conglomerates. Her understanding of the complex legal issues facing these companies comes from her rich experience in-house, as the VP and General Counsel of the Biosciences Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific for seven years as well the General Counsel of a start-up biotechnology company. In addition, Shana has practiced at a top Bay-area law firm and her own boutique, Omics Law Group, where she focused on life science licensing transactions.
Shana has extensive experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of life science transactions – from complex, strategic license and collaboration deals that are the lifeblood of many start-up biotech companies, to custom templates for new business models and technical consortium. She also drafts and negotiates their industry-standard agreements including MTAs, supply, quality and distribution agreements, clinical trial agreements, collaboration, contract research and services agreements.
Shana understands the challenges facing start-up and established biotechnology companies. She helps them develop or in-license intellectual property from universities and commercialize their IP by licensing it to larger biopharma and pharma companies. Shana also assists multinational life science and pharmaceutical companies to collaborate with other companies, commercialize their biological research tools and equipment, develop, in-license or acquire intellectual property from start-up companies. She helps them in turn bolster their pipelines and product offerings, enhance their competitive positions and increase shareholder value.
Shana enjoys learning about her clients’ evolving research, technology, business and understanding their unique intellectual property and commercialization challenges, which makes her a more effective advocate for her clients.
