Terradot and Google announced a megaton-scale climate project in Southern Brazil that pairs methane avoidance in rice farming with permanent carbon dioxide removal. The project is the largest enhanced rock weathering (ERW) project ever undertaken and the first to combine near-term methane elimination with durable carbon removal at this scale.

Terradot is the leader in ERW, with deployments across Brazil and the United States. It has signed committed offtake agreements with buyers including Google, Frontier, Microsoft and J.P. Morgan.
Google will purchase 1 million tonnes of near-term methane impact by 2030 and 1 million tonnes of carbon removal impact by 2040, making this its largest carbon removal purchase to date.
Terradot will help rice farmers across more than 200,000 hectares adopt practices that sharply reduce the methane released by flooded paddies while spreading crushed rock on farmland to generate durable carbon removal. The project turns Brazilian rice systems into a comprehensive climate solution and is designed to be replicable across other rice-growing regions worldwide.
