  • Brendan McNallen joins Orrick as a partner on its Energy & Infrastructure team in Seattle.
  • Brendan focuses on project development and finance across the energy generation, storage, transmission and distribution, and infrastructure sectors. He brings deep experience structuring and negotiating engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and build-transfer agreement (BTA) transactions.
  • Brendan has represented developers on over 7,000 MW of battery energy storage projects alone in recent years, including the multi-phase Edwards & Sanborn Solar + Storage project in Southern California.
  • This addition continues the growth of Orrick’s global Energy & Infrastructure platform, to which the firm has recruited 22 partners in 13 markets worldwide since January 2025. 2026 hires include Energy M&A practitioner Nick Woodruff in Houston and nuclear regulatory authority Amy Roma in Washington, D.C.
  • Brendan joins from Reed Smith, where he was a partner.

“With shifting market conditions and changes to tariffs and tax credits adding complexity to project planning, EPC considerations are vital to developers who are building at scale to meet accelerating energy demand,” said Orrick E&I partner Rohit Sachdev. “Brendan is a top practitioner in the EPC space, and a former colleague with whom we already share several clients. We’re excited to add his talent to our roster.”

“Orrick has built a premier platform focused on the full lifecycle of the most innovative energy projects,” said Brendan. “I’m excited to collaborate with my new colleagues to help our clients address a very dynamic market.”

Orrick ranked top 5 for Energy Transition by deal count in 2025 (Inspiratia). The firm was named a 2025 Practice Group of the Year for both Energy and Construction by Law360.
