Orrick advised TiLT Capital Partners, acting as the lead investor, along with its co-investment partners Eiffel Investment Group, Bpifrance and Socadif (Crédit Agricole Group), in Groupe Volta's €40 million funding round.
TiLT Capital Partners, founded by Nathanaël Krivine, Nicolas Lepareur and Nicolas Piau, specializes in energy transition and responsible investment, indexing its remuneration on the ESG performance of the companies in which it invests. Since September 2021, it has operated as the energy transition platform of the Siparex Group, an independent French private equity company with €3.5 billion in capital under management.
The Volta Group, an independent energy developer, engages in the financing, construction and operation of renewable energy production facilities. It boasts a portfolio of ~100 MW of projects in operation or under construction and ~500 MW of projects under development in France, Poland and the Indian Ocean. The company is particularly active in the field of ground-mounted and rooftop photovoltaics, with strong expertise in agricultural photovoltaic hangars and in wind power, with a focus on repowering. Repowering involves the process of dismantling aging wind farms and installing more efficient turbines, which will ultimately expedite the deployment of wind energy capacity in France by leveraging existing sites already dedicated to wind energy production. The financing will enable the Group to accelerate the expansion of its platform, develop new projects and reach a total of over 1 GW of projects in operation and under development within the next 3 to 5 years.
