Lawyers for Civil Justice (LCJ) has recognized Orrick’s Jeffrey McKenna for its 2022 “Outstanding Contributor Award” for leading a team in developing innovations in international discovery and privacy.

Jeffrey, a member of our eDiscovery & Information Governance practice, has contributed to a number of LCJ initiatives focused on discovery and handling of evidence, notably designed to enhance protections for cybersecurity and personal information. The reforms cited by LCJ specifically advocate revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, including allowing more personal information to be filed under seal by default, requiring narrowly tailored discovery to avoid unnecessary disclosure of personal information, expanding the ability to withhold or redact sensitive personal information, enhancing protections for non-party privacy rights, avoiding cross-border conflicts of law, and other data protection provisions.

Other team members working on the LCJ discovery initiatives include Wendy Curtis, Dr. Christian Schröder, Shannon Yavorsky, and Kelli Ward.

This is the second time LCJ has recognized Orrick with an “Outstanding Contributor” award. Wendy Curtis, the firm’s chief innovation officer, received the award in 2018 for leading a major amicus effort related to standards in litigation discovery disputes.
