Orrick’s Racial Justice Fellowship has been selected as the Best Diversity Initiative of the year by The American Lawyer at its industry awards reception in New York. In addition, American Lawyer also recognized Josh Rosenkranz as a 2022 “Litigator of the Year” finalist for his massive wins for our clients, in courts around the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
In 2021, Orrick launched a Racial Justice Fellowship Program, embedding 5 experienced lawyers full-time for a full year at civil rights, racial justice and economic empowerment organizations. The firm has committed to continue the program for at least four years.
We are incredibly gratefully to our community partners: Common Future, the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, A New Way of Life, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and NYU Law’s Policing Project.
In the first year of the program, our fellows helped launch the first in-prison legal clinic devoted to family reunification, drafted legislation to support equity in policing and launched a character-based lending fund that has allocated $800,000 in capital to underfunded entrepreneurs of color across the United States.
