Orrick Advises CANAL+ on Acquisition of ROK Studios

Orrick has advised CANAL+ on its acquisition of ROK Studios from Iroko, one of Nigeria’s largest internet and entertainment companies. ROK Studios is Nigeria's largest production house with over 500 movies and 25 TV series since its founding in 2013. As part of the deal, Canal+ will also acquire ROK’s library of content, as well as the content distribution business of Iroko. ROK will continue to create content for IROKOtv and ROK's existing channels, as well as the African and global channels of Canal+.

The transaction was structured as a business and asset purchase of the three business units of Iroko and a share purchase of ROK. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Orrick team was led by Jinal Shah and included Charlie Sheldon, Elizabeth Monro-Davies, Jonathan Rosen, Bridget Winters, Aoife Casey, Mandy Perry, Charlotte Oliver, Kolvin Stone, Candice O’Brien, Jonelle Afonso, Alex Sobolev, George Rigo, Gergana Rodriguez and Cecile Renaud.
