Sachi attended the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as an Executive Editor of the Michigan Law Review and a research assistant working at the intersection of constitutional and international law. Before law school, Sachi worked in documentary film production; she received the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for her work in the same field. She currently serves as a lecturer in Entertainment Law for the Department of Film and Media at the University of California, Berkeley.
