Mya Johnson is Senior Associate in the Houston office and a member of Orrick's Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Group.

Mya primarily focuses her practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity transactions and other general corporate matters. She represents private equity funds, their portfolio companies and a wide range of public and private entities in complex corporate transactions across various industries, including clients in the technology and energy industry. Mya was recently recognized by the National Black Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 lawyer.

Prior to joining Orrick, Mya was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. In addition, Mya previously served as a federal law clerk for the Honorable Stephen Wm. Smith in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

  • Representative Experience

    • Advised the lead investor on an agreement to acquire a controlling interest and significant equity funding for Powin Energy Corporation.
    • Advised an independent exploration and production company in its acquisition by WildFire Energy I, an independent energy platform company.
    • Advised an offshore-focused midstream company in its sale of an approximately 50% interest in Lighthouse Super Holdings, LLC, to an affiliate of a global infrastructure investment vehicle.
    • Advised an American oilfield services company in its agreement with Liberty Oilfield Services Inc. to acquire its onshore hydraulic fracturing business in the United States and Canada.
    • Advised a leading global private-equity firm focused on growth investing on the formation of Aquila Air Capital, a specialty finance platform focused on commercial aerospace.
