Katie is known for her ability to bridge different viewpoints and build practical, mutually beneficial solutions that move complex real estate deals forward.

She partners with investment funds, fund sponsors, real estate advisors, developers, public and private pension funds and institutional lenders on sophisticated real property acquisitions and dispositions, secured financings, hospitality, construction and development, joint ventures and other corporate real estate activities.

With a particular passion for the hospitality sector, Katie manages all of Orrick’s hotel transactions throughout the United States. She has in-depth knowledge of the legal and contractual aspects unique to the hotel industry, including construction contracts, hotel management and franchise agreements, in addition to more standard loan documentation, joint venture and purchase and sale agreements.

    • A private equity real estate fund on the $308 million sale of the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, a 253-key hotel, located at Central Park South and Sixth Avenue.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the $130 million sale of the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the $130 million sale of the Four Seasons Hotel Miami.
    • A private equity investment firm on the acquisition and subsequent sale of its preferred equity investment in the Algonquin Hotel, a historic boutique hotel in Manhattan.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the acquisition and subsequent $206 million sale of the W Union Square in Manhattan to Marriott.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the $127 million acquisition of the Loews Regency San Francisco hotel from an affiliate of Loews Hotels, Inc. and the $70 million financing from HSBC.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the acquisition and subsequent $69 million sale of the Hilton Seattle to Tokyo-based APA Group.

    Residential / Multifamily

    • A private equity investor on the approximate $4 billion portfolio sale of 17 residential apartment properties throughout the West Coast.
    • Guardian Real Estate Services on the landmark $395 million acquisition of the GSL Portfolio Properties, consisting of 13 affordable multifamily rental projects across New Mexico and Oregon.
    • A private equity investor on the $33 million sale of an apartment building in downtown Bellevue, WA.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the $29 million sale of its portfolio of residential condominium units in the Grand Millennium Condominium, a 32-story, 200-unit luxury residential development project located at 1965 Broadway in Manhattan.
    • A real estate investment advisor on the $52 million acquisition of a student housing complex in Athens, GA.
    • A real estate investment firm on the $53 million acquisition of Live on Hillsborough, a student housing community in Raleigh, NC.

    • An investment firm in connection with a joint venture investment and financing for a multiphase mixed-use development containing residential, hotel, retail, office, and public real uses on approximately 30 acres of land on the East Bank neighborhood of Nashville, TN.
    • A real estate investment firm on the $400 million recapitalization and refinancing of a mixed-use development project in Las Vegas, NV.
    • Westbrook Partners on the $1+ billion mixed-use development project featuring a luxury condominium tower to be branded the Four Seasons Private Residences at 706 Mission in San Francisco.

    Industrial

    • A private equity real estate fund on the $218 million financing of two industrial portfolios in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the $92 million financing secured by six industrial properties throughout the Boston metro area.
    • A private equity real estate fund on the $22 million financing of two industrial buildings in Methuen, MA; and on the $40 million financing of two industrial buildings located in the suburbs of Boston, MA.
