Milan is a versatile commercial IP, technology and data lawyer who advises clients on commercial, technology, intellectual property, IT and data privacy issues across a broad range of sectors including tech, life sciences, media, energy, infrastructure and retail.

Milan enjoys helping clients find practical legal solutions to complex technology issues. He has particular experience of advising on emerging technologies and regularly advises on high-value, strategic and cross-border technology transactions, collaborations and licensing arrangements, as well as SaaS agreements, framework agreements, distribution agreements, privacy policies, terms and conditions, MSAs, intra group arrangements and regulatory advice on digital e-commerce and consumer regulations.

He also regularly advises companies at all stages on the technology, commercial, IP and data aspects of M&A and venture capital transactions, investments and joint ventures.

Milan has spent time on secondment to civil rights organisation Liberty, where he worked on several high-profile matters relating to privacy, technology and mass surveillance.

Before moving into law, Milan spent time working for an IT consultancy, primarily on digital transformation, organisational change and software implementation projects for a range of private and public sector clients.

    • SUSE on its global software licensing and distribution framework and underlying agreements.
    • e-therapeutics plc on various strategic clinical research and development agreements, framework agreements and commercial contracts.
    • A major electric vehicle charging network on strategic technology partnerships, IP licensing and collaboration agreements with a range of leading car manufacturers.
    • The UK Ministry of Defence on two major technology infrastructure projects.
    • Experience advising on various software and IP licensing agreements, collaboration/partnership agreements, technology platform agreements (including PaaS, IaaS and SaaS agreements) and major outsourcing.

    Commercial and consumer

    • A leading Japanese games developer on the global rollout of a live streaming platform and other mobile games, including advice on online harms regulation, gaming and consumer regulation, privacy and associated end user terms and privacy policies.
    • British American Tobacco on various complex and multi-jurisdictional commercial, media, digital marketing and advertising, supply and consulting agreements.
    • Experience advising on various website terms and conditions, service agreements, commercial framework agreements, supply agreements, sponsorship and incentive agreements.

    Data protection and privacy

    • Kinnevik AB on the data protection and privacy elements of its $115m Series E investment in digital staffing platform Jobandtalent.
    • UN High Commissioner for Refugees on its data sharing strategy, privacy policy and data sharing agreements.
    • Advised multi-jurisdictional clients on a wide range of data and privacy related issues including privacy policies, data processing addenda, data sharing agreements, data commercialisation/exploitation, international transfers of personal data and automated decision making.

    Venture Capital / M&A

    • A global publisher on its acquisition of an AI-based SaaS workforce analytics platform.
    • A venture capital fund on its Series B investment into a mobility platform.
    • A sovereign investor on its investment into a global digital marketing agency.
    • A US-listed pharmaceutical company on the technology and data protection aspects of its acquisition of a European contract research organisation.
