  • Cameron Onumah, who most recently served as Head of Public Policy for Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, has joined Orrick as a Policy Director.
  • Based in Los Angeles, Cameron brings deep expertise at the intersection of media, technology and government affairs. At Amazon, he led public policy and regulatory engagement across original programming, streaming and live sports – working closely with industry leaders, policymakers and creative stakeholders.
  • At Orrick, Cameron will advise clients across emerging and high-growth industries – particularly in tech and entertainment – on public policy strategy, regulatory affairs and cross-sector engagement.
  • He will be part of the Public Policy Group's state legislative practice, which is at the forefront of many of the nation's most important policy debates, including the regulation of AI, online sports betting and casino gaming, energy and transmission, crypto and digital assets, streaming video and wireless cellular technology. The group's clients include DraftKings, FanDuel, American Innovators Network, DIRECTV, Major League Baseball, BetMGM, NBA, PGA Tour, DISH Network, a16z, Fanatics and LS Power, among others. The firm’s growing Public Policy team includes six partners and eight policy strategists who bring deep knowledge of the most innovative verticals and know their way around the capitols of all 50 states.

"Cameron's unique blend of policy, political and corporate experience makes him an invaluable advisor to clients confronting today's rapidly evolving public policy environment," said Jeremy Kudon, partner and founder of Orrick's Public Policy Group. "We're thrilled to welcome him to the firm."

Prior to Amazon, Cameron served as Political Director and Deputy Campaign Manager for U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's successful 2018 reelection campaign. He previously held the role of Policy Advisor to Senator Feinstein in Los Angeles, where he managed a robust legislative portfolio including criminal justice reform, emerging technologies and economic development. Most recently, he was appointed by Mayor Karen Bass to serve as a Commissioner of Tourism for the City of Los Angeles.

Cameron’s hire follows the firm’s addition in February of a team of 14 tech companies lawyers in its Los Angeles and Santa Monica offices, combining two leading SoCal practices serving the venture-backed and tech communities.
