Law360 featured Orrick’s counsel on the two largest San Francisco office transactions of 2019, as part of their Sealing the Deal column. Orrick represented an undisclosed seller of Levi Strauss & Co.’s headquarters, Levi’s Plaza, in the more than $800 million sale of its 930,000-square-foot campus to Atlanta-based developer Jamestown. The Orrick team included Mike Liever, Kelsey Kummer, Dustin Calkins and David Gotsill.
Orrick also helped gaming app developer Zynga Inc. with a roughly $600 million sale of its 670,000-square-foot San Francisco headquarters to Beacon Capital Partners that involved leasing back part of the space for 12 years and maintaining its world headquarters at the building.
“When you’re involved in deals with this dollar amount, there’s a lot of scrutiny from the client,” Mike Liever told Law360. “It was great to work with Zynga because they have very smart and savvy businesspeople and internal counsel.” Kelsey Kummer, who also advised on the deal, added, “We really enjoy working with innovative companies on innovative transactions.”
The Orrick team, working alongside Zynga’s internal counsel Matt Lubniewski, Claudia Sanchez Wilson and Phuong Phillips, included Mike, Kelsey, Jack Machalow, Brett Cooper, Grady Bolding, Steve Malvey and David Gotsill.
