National Asian Pacific American Bar Association
September.25.2019

Congratulations to Cathy Lui on her selection to the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) 2019 Best Lawyers Under 40 list. The annual list recognizes individuals within the Asian Pacific American legal community who have achieved prominence and distinction in their fields and have demonstrated a strong commitment to Asian Pacific American civic or community affairs. Cathy will be recognized during the 2019 NAPABA Convention in Austin, Texas, in November.

Cathy represents clients in the tech, financial services and retail industries in high-profile trade secrets, employee mobility and complex commercial litigation. Many of her trade secrets matters also involve parallel criminal proceedings. Legal500 recently recognized Cathy as a “Next Generation Lawyer” in trade secrets. She currently serves as Co-Vice Chair of the Trade Secrets Interest Group of the California Lawyers Association's (formerly of the California State Bar) Intellectual Property Section and is on the Editorial Board of Orrick’s Trade Secrets Watch blog.

Active in a wide range of recruiting and diversity and inclusion initiatives, Cathy is Co-Chair of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area’s Judiciary Committee, serves as the Hiring Partner for Orrick’s San Francisco office, co-leads the firm's Asian American Affinity Group, and serves as a firm ambassador for the Move the Needle Fund, a new diversity and inclusion initiative. She also has an active pro bono practice and has been recognized each of the past five years by the Justice & Diversity Center for her work helping homeless clients remove outstanding warrants, which bar them from access to housing and employment.
