Frequently Asked Questions

UK: How can I meet venture capitalists that might be interested in investing in my UK company?

There are many ways to meet venture capitalists that might be interested in investing in your UK company. It is important to first understand the type of companies a particular venture capitalist focuses on for their investments, for example a venture capitalist may only invest in companies of a certain stage, geographic location or sector. This knowledge will enable you to focus your time and energy on venture capitalists who are able to invest in your company.

A warm introduction is often going to lead to a deeper conversation. If you know any founders of a venture capitalist's portfolio companies, you could ask them for an introduction. Alternatively, see who your mutual connections are on LinkedIn and/or other social media platforms to try to find an introduction.

Another great way to meet venture capitalists is to interact with them on social media as many venture capitalists are active on Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or other social media networks. If you engage with their posts, you may be able to strike up a conversation with them. Venture capitalists will also often attend or even host events for founders which you may be able to attend.

Lastly, by becoming active in your local start-up community, you are more likely to come across and/or be introduced to investors who might be interested in investing in your company.
