Orrick Named to Yale Law Women's List of Top Ten Family Friendly Firms for the Third Year

April.25.2014

Orrick is named to Yale Law Women's ("YLW") list of the Top Ten Family Friendly U.S. Law Firms for the third year in a row. The YLW report, which is considered the leading authority on family friendliness, analyzes indicators such as hours requirements, part-time and flex-time options, parental leave policies, and their utilization by male and female attorneys. Orrick is one of only three firms returning to the list from 2013.

"We are working hard on family friendliness for male and female attorneys. I don't think we've figured it out yet, but Orrick's consistent inclusion on this list gives us confidence that we are bringing the right level of commitment and creativity to the issue," said Karen Johnson-McKewan, co-head of Orrick's Women's Initiative and an Intellectual Property litigator.

The report highlighted Orrick as one of five firms with the highest parental leave utilization rate for male and female lawyers at all levels.

In 2013, Orrick was also honored on Working Mother magazine's and Flex-Time Lawyer's 50 Best Law Firms for Women list for the 5th time. This survey evaluates part-time and flex-time policies, leave policies, alternative career programs and gender equity in leadership.
