Orrick and The University of Virginia Law School announced that Subarkah Syafruddin has been awarded the Orrick International Law Fellowship to clerk on the International Court of Justice, the primary judicial branch of the United Nations.
The fellowship enables a recent UVA Law graduate to complete a 10 month clerkship working on issues of international law. Subarkah will be the first Indonesian to clerk at the Netherlands–based international court and has been assigned to Judge Joan E. Donoghue. The ICJ, also known as the World Court, uses a unique blend of the legal traditions of the 15 nations represented on the Court to settle disputes submitted by States and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized UN organs and agencies.
