Orrick Receives Legal Aid Society's 2017 Pro Bono Publico Award

The Legal Aid Society recognized Orrick with its 2017 Pro Bono Publico Award in recognition of our commitment to serving the needs of low-income New Yorkers. Additionally, Alex Chachkes, Jacquelyn Hehir and Jude Halawi were honored with individual awards for their work on Legal Aid's Parole Denial Appeal Project (PDAP).

The Honorable Janet DiFiore, the Chief Judge of the State of New York, presented the awards during Legal Aid's 2017 Pro Bono Publico Awards ceremony on October 25.

Through the PDAP project, Alex, Jackie and Jude represented three inmates who have consistently been denied parole despite demonstrated rehabilitation and remorse for crimes they committed as minors. They served as co-counsel with Legal Aid in each step of the parole release process.
