Tokyo, Japan and Paris, France – Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP advised Japan-based U-Shin, Ltd. on its €203 million acquisition of Paris-based Valeo S.A.'s access mechanisms business.
U-Shin is one of Asia's largest producers of automotive access mechanisms. Through this acquisition, U-Shin would become a global market leader with a diversified customer base and a front-rank presence in Asia, Europe and South America. The deal was finalized on May 24, 2013.

“This transaction will have a significant impact on U-Shin's future - helping it become a global leader in the automobile industry," said Mr. Weeks. “We expect to see more outbound M&A activity by Japanese companies pursuing further expansion of their businesses overseas. Orrick has an accomplished team of lawyers who are experienced in the local law, business culture and language of each jurisdiction where we have an office and are able to collaborate on complex cross-border transactions.”
