Orrick Adds ITC Trial Lawyer Josh Pond

• Joshua Pond joins our IP litigation practice, adding a preeminent trial lawyer in IP disputes before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Josh brings broad experience as well before the federal courts and U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
• One of the most prolific ITC litigators in the country, Josh is recognized by Chambers U.S. and Global for his ITC Section 337 investigations practice. He has prevailed in dozens of cases for Fortune Global 500 and emerging companies involving contested patent, copyright infringement, trademark and trade secret theft matters.
• An example of his federal court success, Josh recently secured a defense win before a Delaware jury for ScentAir Technologies in a major patent infringement case recognized in Litigation Daily’s Litigators of the Week feature.
• Most recently co-leader of Crowell & Moring’s ITC 337 litigation practice, Josh joins us in Washington, D.C.
• Josh is the latest first chair IP litigator added to our team, along with leading tech and life sciences trial lawyer Tim Carroll, who joined in January from Venable. Tim’s record includes prevailing in three ITC matters over the past three years.

Josh, who holds mechanical engineering and political science degrees from Stanford University, was a founding editor of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association’s 337 Reporter Round-Up and a fellow in the Hispanic National Bar Association’s IP Law Institute. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and has an active pro bono practice on behalf of disabled veterans. Earlier this year he prevailed before the D.C. District Court on behalf of decorated U.S. Army veteran Benjamin Hayhurst, whose heroism was depicted in the National Geographic miniseries and best-selling book “The Long Road Home,” to obtain long-owed disability benefits after an 18-year fight.

Josh is the eighth partner the firm has added to its IP litigation practice since the beginning of last year, focused on tech and life sciences. American Lawyer last year named Orrick a finalist for IP Litigation Department of the Year.
