Global Arbitration Review (GAR) has once again named Orrick to its list of the world’s top 30 international arbitration practices, ranking it #24 worldwide. In its editorial coverage, GAR took particular note of  Orrick's work in a solar energy case against the Italian Government under the Energy Charter Treaty, and of several large matters involving post-M&A and electronics disputes. Orrick currently lists some 20 active international arbitration cases, and in recent months has secured three very significant awards.

“We are very pleased once again to have been named to this highly prestigious list”, said Charles Adams, the Geneva-based Worldwide Head of Orrick’s International Arbitration Practice Group. “This is a testimonial to the dedication and hard work of our global dispute-resolution team, and to the faith which our clients, important end-users of the processes of international arbitration, continue to place in us in jurisdictions around the world.”

Siegfried Elsing, an International Arbitration partner based in Orrick's Düsseldorf office, added: “This recognition further acknowledges the progress that we have made in building an elite international arbitration group, of a quality which ranks us among the very best on the planet. We look forward to recruiting still more top-tier practitioners into our ranks in the course of this year.”

In selecting the GAR 30, GAR ranks firms primarily on the number of arbitral merits hearings conducted over a two-year period, the cumulative amounts in dispute in those cases, and the headcount and geographic footprint of international arbitration partners and associates practicing within the firm. The rankings also consider the frequency of the appointment of firm members as chair or co-arbitrator on international arbitral tribunals, and the number of their listings in GAR’s sister publication, Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration – a guide to the leading practitioners in the field as selected by their peers.
