Orrick was honored to sponsor keynote speaker Gloria Steinem at the 2017 Women’s Power Summit on Law and Leadership, a biennial conference that draws a “Who’s Who” of the most influential female lawyers in the country. The Center for Women in Law (CWIL), the leading national institution devoted to the success of prospective and current female attorneys, hosted the event April 26-28 at the University of Texas Law School.

Summit Co-chair Sandra Phillips Rogers, group vice president, chief legal officer, general counsel & secretary of Toyota Motor North America and CWIL founder kicked off the Summit, followed by Steinem’s keynote address and interview by Michele Coleman Mayes, vice president, general counsel, and secretary of The New York Public Library. Orrick partner Claudia Frost, also a founding member of the CWIL, later moderated a panel on pay equity issues. She was joined by speakers Michelle Banks, former general counsel of Gap, Kimberly Leach Johnson, partner and firm chair of Quarles & Brady LLP, Gregory Jordan, general counsel of PNC Financial, and Amy Weaver, general counsel of Salesforce.

“I’m proud of Orrick’s support for the Power Summit, which provides an exceptional opportunity for women leaders to identify and confront the challenges women face in law and business,” Claudia said. “As a founder of the Center for Women in Law, it is particularly gratifying to see the growing enthusiasm for such an important initiative.”

Orrick’s involvement in the Women’s Power Summit is one of many examples of the firm’s commitment to diversity in the legal industry, which has been widely recognized. Orrick has been certified as a Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) Gold Standard Firm four times, and Working Mother magazine last year recognized us for the eighth time as one of the “50 Best Law Firms for Women.” Orrick also has a senior leadership team comprised of one-third women.
