March.16.2017

Orrick served as counsel on two infrastructure deals that were honored as North American “Deals of the Year” at the annual IJGlobal Awards dinner held in New York on March 15.

The recognized deals are:

  • North American Airport Deal of the Year: LaGuardia Terminal B Redevelopment Project
Orrick advised the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on the $4 billion deal to redevelop Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport, the first U.S. PPP airport project to include both design and reconstruction. The Orrick team, led by Young Lee, worked on all phases of procurement, bid evaluations, airline interactions, and lease and financing negotiations.
  • North American Rail Deal of the Year: Purple Line Light Rail Transit Project
Orrick advised the Purple Line Transit Partners consortium as sponsor’s counsel on the financing of the Purple Line light rail transit, an 11 mile line in Maryland. The $2 billion PPP project is the second transit PPP to reach financial close in the U.S., and the first rail PPP for the state of Maryland. The Orrick team was led by Dan Mathews.

The IJGlobal awards are the latest for Orrick’s Project Finance team, which was recently named a Law360 practice group of the year for the fourth time and an Inspiratia top ten legal adviser for 2016. In addition, the firm’s U.S. PPP practice is rated Band 1 by Chambers Global.
