Orrick Team Wins 2017 Antitrust Writing Award

March.29.2017

Congratulations to our partners Jim Tierney, David Goldstein and Alex Okuliar on winning a 2017 Antitrust Writing Award from Concurrences.

Jim, David and Alex won Best Business Article: General Antitrust for “DOJ and FTC Set Possible Criminal Liability Trap for HR Professionals.” The article, which originally appeared on Orrick’s Antitrust Watch and Employment Law & Litigation blogs in October 2016, examines the DOJ and FTC’s guidance for HR professionals on the application of the antitrust laws to employee hiring and compensation. According to the authors, “While the agencies have put HR professionals on notice regarding their enforcement intentions, they have also set a trap for unwary HR professionals who fail to successfully navigate the ambiguous line between lawful and unlawful hiring restrictions.”

The annual Antitrust Writing Awards, created by Concurrences, aim to promote competition scholarship and to contribute to competition advocacy. Winners are chosen through a combination of jury selection and reader votes.
