Law360 has selected Orrick’s Project Finance, Privacy and Sports teams as 2016 Practice Groups of the Year. This is the fourth time Orrick has been named in the project finance category. Its work in this sector this year featured some of the largest infrastructure projects underway, including the LaGuardia Airport redevelopment project, the Gateway project and Africa’s Grand Inga Dam. The firm’s work also spanned Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Orrick’s work in the privacy sector included what many consider to be the most important privacy case in years, Microsoft v. USA, in which the firm secured a stunning win for Microsoft in its fight with the government over searching private emails stored in foreign countries. In addition, the firm also handled some of the largest and highest-profile data security breaches and investigations, as well as the largest Telephone Consumer Protection Act case in history for DISH Network.

In sports law, Orrick coordinated a state-by-state legislative strategy to preserve the daily fantasy sports industry. The firm also represented players unions in major disputes, secured financing for state-of-the-art stadiums around the world and assisting the global triathlon leader in its largest-ever acquisition.

Profiles of each practice will be published in Law360 in February 2017.
