Orrick Advises RES in its Wind Power Purchase Agreement with General Motors

November.22.2016

Orrick has advised Renewable Energy Systems (RES), a global renewable energy company, in its negotiations with General Motors for the purchase of 50 megawatts of power produced from the Cactus Flats Wind Farm, a 150 MW wind farm being developed by RES in Concho County, Texas. When the contract begins in the first half of 2018, 6 percent of GM’s global energy use will be powered by renewable energy.

This agreement is GM's largest renewable energy procurement to date, purchasing enough wind power to equal the electricity needs of 16 of its U.S. facilities.

The Orrick team advising RES was led by energy and infrastructure partner Giji John and included assistance from Nik Mathews and Vanessa Guillermety.
