July.15.2016

The New York City Bar Association’s Capital Punishment Committee has chosen Orrick for its prestigious 2016 Norman Redlich Capital Defense Distinguished Service Pro Bono Award.  The Award, presented to the firm on July 14 at the Committee’s annual capital defense training program, recognizes the firm’s excellence in the representation of death-row inmates and in advocating for the abolition of the death penalty.

“We’re honored to receive this award and wish to recognize the outstanding efforts of Norm Hile, Katie DeWitt and Marc Shapiro, each of whom have put in countless hours for this noble and critically important cause, as well as the many others at the firm who have worked and continue to work tirelessly on behalf of our clients,” said Rene Kathawala, Orrick’s Pro Bono Counsel.
