Orrick Promotes IP Practitioner Shelley Zhang to Partner in Beijing

Orrick announced that Shelley Zhang, a lawyer in the firm's leading China Intellectual Property Practice Group, has been promoted to partner in its Beijing office.

Shelley focuses her practice on IP prosecution and enforcement. She has extensive experience in patent enforcement litigation, patent invalidation proceedings, trade secret enforcement efforts, anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy efforts. She handles patent prosecution, including patent drafting, office actions and reexamination procedures and technology transfer, licensing arrangements and negotiations for patent and trademark portfolios for companies doing business in China. In addition, she represents Chinese companies, including stated-owned companies, in defending commercial litigation and product liability litigation in the United States. Shelley's background includes experience as a civil and criminal litigator. Prior to practicing law, Shelley worked as an engineer in a state-owned enterprise for three years. She passed the China National Lawyer Qualification Examination in 1997 and the China National Patent Agent Qualification Examination in 2002. She earned her B.A. in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1996.
