Orrick’s Global Japan Practice is hosting a series of “Orrick Library” seminars to explore legal issues in various fields in Japan as well as the United States, Asia and Europe. The next seminar will be held on Wednesday, November 29 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. George Rigo, a partner in our Paris Office, will join us in Tokyo for this event.

With several important measures announced by President Macron already being adopted and implemented and changes in labor law and significant tax measures pending, the changes in the French administration will most likely have a big impact on investment in France. This seminar will focus on the numerous reforms being carried out in France and how it will influence Japanese clients. It will also touch upon the recent M&A trends of Japanese companies acquiring French companies and how the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to go into force in May of next year, will influence M&A and investments in France, including so called "Compliance Due Diligence".

Our 90-minute long seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Recent Trends and Strategic Tips in Acquiring French Companies
  • French Law Developments Under Macron and EU Compliance Issues
  • Compliance Due Diligence in M&A transaction, including GDPR and FCPA
