He focuses on the development, acquisition and financing of solar, wind and other renewable energy projects in various regions of Japan. He has experience related to the FIT/FIP system and other laws and regulations related to the electric power industry, as well as negotiations with relevant government agencies, and the preparation and negotiations of related contracts.
In addition, he is involved in establishing schemes and negotiating contracts for the corporate PPAs of non-FIT renewable energy projects, as well as preparing on-site PPAs and general terms and conditions for electricity retailers.
He is the co-author of Orrick’s “Japan Renewables Alert".
Prior to joining Orrick Tokyo Office, he was an assistant judge at the Tokyo District Court and the Matsuyama District Court, where he gained experiences in a variety of cases, including civil, administrative and criminal matters.
He represents corporate buyers, project sponsors, developers, and financial institutions in the negotiation of a broad variety of agreements:
Virtual and physical power purchase agreements, REC agreements, and other long-term offtake contracts for wind and solar;
Joint ventures, acquisitions, and divestitures of renewable energy project equity and assets;
Engineering, procurement, and construction agreements;
Major equipment supply contracts; and
Interconnection, site control, and other project development transactions.
In addition to project development, Daniel has assisted energy clients in environmental, energy regulatory, restructuring, and financing matters.
Prior to joining Orrick, Daniel was a Senior Counsel at Vestas Development and a Senior Associate in an international law firm’s energy practice group. In these roles, he negotiated transactions involving over 3.5 GWs of renewable energy projects in matters ranging from utility scale to community solar.

Separate from his successes in both state and federal litigation, Harry has also helped guide clients big and small through arbitration disputes.
Prior to joining Orrick, Harry worked as a litigation associate at a major international law firm in New York.
While in law school, Harry served as articles editor for the Georgetown Law Journal, interned at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, and represented inmates as part of GULC's Death Penalty Practicum. Harry won Georgetown's 68th Annual Beaudry Moot Court Competition and served as coach and board member of the Appellate Advocacy team. Prior to law school, Harry worked as a trial preparation assistant with the Bronx District Attorney's Office and as an intern at the United Nations.
