Derek advises clients on complex domestic and international merger and acquisition transactions in the technology, life sciences, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, logistics and manufacturing sectors. Prior to joining Orrick, Derek was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and held senior management roles in the mobile and casino gaming industries.
Katie was a part of the trial team that obtained a complete dismissal for Oracle in OFCCP v. Oracle, a high-stakes systemic compensation discrimination case that garnered national media attention. Katie and her co-counsel were named "Litigators of the Week" by American Lawyer for the win. Two years later, Katie and her co-counsel were named Runners-Up by American Lawyer for securing decertification of a 3,000-person putative equal pay class action for Oracle.
In fall 2023, Katie co-first chaired a two week federal jury trial in Oregon and obtained a verdict against the client's former general manager, who set up a competing business while employed, on claims for breach of fiduciary duty and intentional interference.
Previously, Katie received California Lawyer’s Attorney of the Year Award in 2016 and was named a Northern California Super Lawyers "Rising Star" for seven consecutive years. She regularly writes and publishes on employment law developments, having presented on topics to three separate state bar associations and a host of national and regional legal and academic conferences.
Katie started her career at Orrick in 2004 and returned in 2015. From 2011 to 2014, she was an associate at a litigation boutique in San Francisco where she handled employment and constitutional law matters.
Christine has more than two decades of experience in public infrastructure finance, advising on both traditional bond financings and innovative funding structures. She serves as a Vice-Chair of the Public Finance Group and on the leadership team for the Impact Finance Group.
Christine’s experience includes various general obligation and revenue bond financings, including those relating to transportation, education, healthcare, water and wastewater, economic development, urban renewal, public power and other complex and innovative social and infrastructure financings sometimes involving public-private partnerships (P3) for large transportation and utility issuers, state and local municipalities, and other for-profit and nonprofit corporations.
She has extensive knowledge and experience with disclosure requirements for municipal issuers under federal securities laws, including both initial and continuing disclosure issues, material events disclosure, public offerings, private placements and other municipal securities regulatory matters.
Christine is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars given by trade and professional organizations within the municipal finance industry, including serving as Chair for The Bond Buyer's 2022 Infrastructure Conference and Board of Directors to Women in Public Finance.
Mike also represents banks and underwriters in
connection with the purchase and sale of bonds and other financing and
credit-related matters.
A significant portion of Mike’s practice is devoted to
private activity bond financings.
This includes representing Oregon Housing and Community Services and Oregon Facilities Authority in
connection with their conduit revenue bond programs. Over the course of
his more than 20 years as a bond attorney in Oregon, he has competed dozens of
project financings throughout the State with a variety of public and private
sponsors, developers and funders.
Mike
received the Firm's Community Responsibility Award in 2011 in recognition of
his community service and pro bono work.
He currently serves on the Boards of Bridge Meadows, a developer, owner
and operator of affordable intergenerational housing communities, and the
Portland Housing Center, an organization providing educational and financial
services to promote homeownership in underserved communities. He also serves as special counsel (pro bono)
to Mercy Corps in connection with its Community Investment Trust (CIT) Program.
Before
joining Orrick, Mike was a partner at Ater Wynne LLP in Portland. Prior
to that, Mike was an associate at Ice Miller in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Steven’s practice includes representing local and state government issuers, tribal governments, eligible borrowers and underwriters in connection with general obligation bond financings, revenue bond financings and lease financings. Steven serves as bond counsel to the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon Housing and Community Services, the Oregon Facilities Authority and a number of Oregon municipalities.
Prior to joining Orrick, Steven worked in publishing in various roles including as a business publication editor, business-focused journalist and news reporter covering trends in various industries as well as municipal and state government, law enforcement and state and federal court matters.
Steven volunteers as a coach for the nationally-recognized We The People program, working with Portland high school students to explore historical and contemporary Constitutional issues in a team competition format sponsored by the Center for Civic Education and Oregon’s Classroom Law Project.
