Katie's litigation experience includes reviewing documents, assisting with trial and witness preparation, drafting motions, oppositions, and replies, and preparing expert reports. Katie has also worked with appellate teams, assisting with briefs and preparing for oral argument before the Supreme Court. Her trademark prosecution and transactional experience includes trademark clearance, applications, oppositions, drafting cease and desist letters in both copyright and trademark matters, and representing parties on both sides of Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy disputes.
Katie is a graduate of the Franklin Pierce University of New Hampshire School of Law. While in law school, she externed for the Honorable Joseph Laplante of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. She also participated in the IP & Transactional Clinic and published a paper on trademark registrability for political slogans. She focused her studies on the Intellectual Property and Sports and Entertainment fields, obtaining specialization certificates in Intellectual Property Law, Sports Law, and Entertainment Law. Katie also received the Sports and Entertainment Institute's Entertainment Award in 2020.
His experience includes representing clients in high-stakes litigation throughout the country in matters concerning federal and state consumer protection statutes, as well as complex commercial disputes. He further advises and represents clients in regulatory, supervisory, and enforcement matters before federal and state agencies including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and states attorneys general. Justin assists clients through all aspects of litigation, including briefing dispositive and discovery motions, managing large-scale discovery reviews and productions, preparing expert reports, arguing motions in both state and federal court, opposing class certification, and conducting settlement negotiations. With respect to enforcement matters, Justin represents clients through supervisory actions and assists them with the PARR (Potential Action and Request for Response) and NORA (Notice and Opportunity to Respond and Advise) process, crafting responses and working with regulators to reach favorable outcomes.
Prior to joining Orrick, Justin was an associate at Buckley LLP. Before practicing law, Justin worked with sports agents for some of the most successful players in the National Football League, including league MVPs, Super Bowl winners, and numerous rookies of the year.
He practices general corporate law and advises both public and private companies in commercial finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law and corporate governance matters.
In doing so, Frank represents companies in all aspects of employment law including whistleblower, discrimination, harassment, disability, employee mobility, classification, and wage and hour issues. He provides aggressive, yet practical and client-focused advocacy, and brings to the table experience trying cases to verdict in state and federal court and litigating cases in AAA and JAMS arbitration. In addition to litigation, Frank collaborates with companies to review and revise their policies and procedures, and assists them in making management decisions. Frank’s clients range from household names to startups and span all industries, with an emphasis in technology, finance, and retail companies.
Prior to joining Orrick, Frank clerked for the Honorable Edward G. Smith in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The teamwork and commitment which Frank applies to representing his clients he honed in the United States Navy. Prior to practicing law, he served as a surface warfare officer, where he led sailors on multiple overseas deployments and taught leadership at the United States Naval Academy. Frank continues to support the armed forces community as a member of the Congressional Service Academy Nominating Committee for California’s 7th District and by volunteering his time as a representative of the Naval Academy to mentor and interview high school students seeking an appointment to the Academy.
Alice represents public and private companies in complex employment litigation, with experience across industries including technology, entertainment, automotive, and retail. She has successfully defended employers in high-stakes class and representative actions, including those brought under the Equal Pay Act, Washington’s Equal Pay & Opportunities Act, PAGA, the WARN Act, and wage and hour laws in both Washington and California. In addition to class actions, Alice regularly defends employers in sensitive single-plaintiff cases involving discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower allegations—often brought by senior executives or other high-profile employees. She also advises companies navigating employee mobility disputes, including those involving alleged trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, or the enforcement of restrictive covenants.
No matter the case, Alice crafts an approach that is both efficient and effective. A trusted advisor, she partners closely with clients to develop a practical, business-focused solution to litigation in any venue, including federal and state courts, arbitration, and in government investigations. Clients depend on Alice for clear guidance, vigorous advocacy, and successful resolution of their most challenging employment disputes.
Alice maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing primarily on issues relating to criminal justice reform.
Prior to joining Orrick, Alice worked as an associate in Latham & Watkins’ Century City office. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School where she graduated cum laude.
Jim's practice focuses on matters involving trade secret misappropriation and the enforcement of post-employment restrictions. Jim has conducted numerous temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction hearings in connection with these types of cases. Jim also has extensive experience defending employers on a broad range of employment matters, including whistleblowing, discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination matters.
In recognition of his career trade secrets and restrictive covenant work, Jim has been inducted into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame for Trade Secrets Litigation.
Shane is a member of our team representing financial institutions in complex, high-value litigation involving mortgage-backed securities in federal and state courts, at both the trial and appellate levels. An experienced litigator, Shane also has represented institutional lenders and private-equity funds in commercial foreclosure proceedings and complex contractual disputes involving the investment banking, real estate, healthcare, and tech sectors, guiding clients through every stage of litigation.
Prior to joining Orrick, Shane served for more than 12 years as an active-duty JAG, excelling in a variety of litigation and leadership roles. She deployed to Afghanistan as part of a small multinational team tasked with mentoring the Afghan National Army. As a senior defense counsel, Shane led a team of Air Force criminal defense attorneys in Europe and first-chaired more than 40 fully litigated felony jury trials, ranging from premeditated murder to computer crimes. She also has significant experience defending federal agencies in employment discrimination matters.
Shane has a robust pro bono practice, where she focuses on LGBTQ+ and veterans issues.
