Anne is experienced in all stages of litigation, including preparing pleadings, conducting party, third-party, and expert discovery, motion practice, and trial. Anne also works on merger review matters and counsels clients on antitrust issues.
From 2021 to 2022, Anne clerked for the Honorable Robert B. Kugler of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Anne graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was a member of the National Moot Court team. In law school, she served as a Littleton Fellow teaching legal writing and as a Senior Editor on the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Prior to law school, Anne worked as a consultant on antitrust and finance matters at an economic consulting firm.
Anri brings a combination of unique skills and attributes which, collectively, make him essential to both maintaining and growing Orrick's longstanding successful practice representing Japanese clients in high-value IP litigation matters as well as serving Orrick's clients worldwide who have needs in Japan. Unlike the limited role of most lawyers in Japan who focus on U.S. IP litigation to client relationship management, Anri is adept at both client relationship and substantive litigation work including briefing and taking witness at trials.
In addition to many patent cases at district courts, USITC and before the US Patent and Trademark Office, Anri is also an experienced practitioner in international arbitration practice. Most recently, he played a huge role in a massive international arbitration matter, which resulted in a complete victory for his client.
As a trial lawyer, trusted counselor, and advocate, Annie finds creative solutions - whether that means tackling challenging issues with current employees, resolving a matter pre-litigation, or winning decisively at trial. Having amassed significant courtroom and trial experience, she knows how to deliver the best results for her client. She has won trials and arbitrations and defended several companies against high-profile, highly publicized claims. Representative clients include Apple, Carta, Lyft, Williams-Sonoma, Inc., Unity Technologies, Instabase, TaskRabbit, and Next Insurance.
Annie also has expertise in gig economy and independent contractor classification issues, workplace best practices and policies, defending companies in government audits including unemployment insurance audits, investigating internal employee complaints, and counseling on issues throughout the entire employee life cycle.
When she is not in her office in Menlo Park, Annie chases after her two dogs Clifford and Jude and her toddler.
Anne represents clients in product liability cases with high potential damages, multiple jurisdictions and plaintiffs, and significant risk to critical product lines. She also assists clients with risk analyses involving product liability exposure related to expansions in distribution areas, cross-border sales, and new product lines.
Anne is a member of teams representing product liability clients that include a Fortune 500 chemical company, a European pharmaceutical distributor, and a key defendant in asbestos litigation across the country. She is experienced in matters involving a wide variety of issues, including medical monitoring, stream of commerce liability (including across international borders), premises liability, and successor liability.
Anne also works with Orrick's Public Policy group assisting clients with developing strategies to solve high-stakes issues in state legislatures, and with state Attorneys General. Anne works with teams representing clients that include the country's biggest telecommunications company and an industry-leading satellite TV company.
