Bela Karmel is an Intellectual Property associate in the San Francisco office working on trademark prosecution matters.
Bela is currently working on trademark clearance and prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), as well as trademark enforcement and domain name disputes according to the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP).
Previously, she has worked on EU-wide copyright legislation as a Legal and Policy Officer at the European Commission, and has contributed to opinions before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Bela has also worked in an international law firm in Paris, France on trademark prosecution and litigation, as well as copyright and unfair competition matters. In addition, Bela holds two information privacy professional certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP): CIPP/US (United States - private sector), and CIPP/E (Europe).
Bela has written articles on intellectual property issues for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, the European Intellectual Property Review, and the Sciences Po Paris Law Review.
