He concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, clean technology, life sciences, IT and telecommunications asset transfers, strategic investments, and general corporate representation for U.S., Japanese and other Asian companies.
Before joining Orrick, Amari was the 2019-2021 Earl Warren Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General at the California Department of Justice. There, she co-authored the Department’s briefs defending the Affordable Care Act in California v. Texas, which won the National Association of Attorneys General’s Supreme Court Best Brief Awards in both 2020 and 2021. Amari also received two Attorney General’s team awards for her work on that case and in another case challenging the Trump administration’s border wall. Amari authored or co-authored several other briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and the California Supreme Court, and argued before the Ninth Circuit.
Amari served as a law clerk to the Honorable Merrick B. Garland of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar of the California Supreme Court.
Prior to law school, Amari worked for the Mayor of New York City, Obama for America, the Democratic National Convention Committee, and two public relations firms in New York City.
Ms. Eichar has represented issuers, underwriters and borrowers in taxable and tax-exempt municipal financings for health care organizations, senior living communities, and other types of 501(c)(3) organizations. In addition, Ms. Eichar has represented various municipal issuers, including the State of California, in the issuance of general obligation bonds, deficit bonds, revenue anticipation notes, lease revenue bonds, enterprise revenue bonds, pension obligation bonds and land-secured bonds, and in municipal lease and redevelopment financing.
As disclosure counsel to myriad public agencies, Ms. Eichar advises on matters including the content of primary offering documents as well as continuing disclosure filings.
In addition to her work in municipal financings, Ms. Eichar has taken on multiple pro bono projects, including prosecuting guardianships for Sacramento's Voluntary Legal Services Program and assisting veterans with appeals of denial of disability benefits before the Board of Veterans Appeals.
Her
practice encompasses all aspects of commercial real estate transactions,
including acquisitions and dispositions, equity investments and financings,
joint ventures and leasing. She is skilled at drafting documents that bring
complicated deal points to life.
Robin strongly
believes in community engagement and is active in a local non-profit that
provides shelter and services to the homeless in New York City.
Jamie works with litigation attorneys and third party vendors to manage the review and production of documents relevant to investigations and litigation. This work includes using early case assessment technology to analyze, categorize and cull data. She also manages teams of skilled professionals performing document review, redaction, analysis, production and drafting privilege logs. Jamie assists the litigation team to prepare for trial, including drafting deposition summaries, factual memoranda and exhibit charts. She also works with practice office attorneys on transactional tasks, including contract review and due diligence.
Prior to joining Orrick, Jamie clerked with Judge John T. Mullaney, Jr. in the Superior Court of New Jersey Monmouth Vicinage and was an associate at Lucas & McGoughran, LLC in Oakhurst, New Jersey.
Robert is a technology litigator and trial lawyer focused on software, security technology, and emerging internet law and digital crimes issues. Robert has helped establish landmark precedent under the Copyright Act, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, California Penal Code 502, and Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and he has successfully tried multiple cases to verdict, including under the Patent Act. In addition to litigation work, Robert also counsels companies ranging from market leaders to start-ups on issues related to intellectual property, security, and incident response. Robert brings a creative, business-oriented approach to helping clients develop, acquire, and protect their most important assets.
Robert is committed to improving diversity in the legal profession. He co-chaired Orrick's Silicon Valley Diversity Committee for many years and is one of the firm-wide facilitators for Orrick’s Latinx Inclusion Network. Robert is also committed to pro bono work. He received Orrick's Pro Bono Award in 2019 and the Legal Aid Association of California's 2015 Family Law Pro Bono Award. Robert currently serves as a member the board of directors for the San Mateo County Legal Aid Society.
Robert served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Oliver W. Wanger in the Eastern District of California prior to commencing private practice.
